Sample Itinerary

Sunday – Miami

  • 7:30 am – Meet World Passage representative at Miami International Airport.
  • Miami – Cienfuegos – American Airlines
  • Cuban Customs 
  • Once through Customs as you leave the airport terminal, you will be met by your Guide/Driver Roly who will be with you during your stay in Cuba. He can also assist with activities which are not on the itinerary.
  • Cienfuegos – the pearl of the south – founded in the early 1800’s by French planters from Bordeaux and from Louisiana who did not wish to live under the new American administration.
  • A stop in the main square to visit the Tomas Terry Theatre built by his children from the family’s wealth from slaves and sugar.Tomás Terry Theater is one of the finest eclectic buildings of the city of Cienfuegos. Forming with Theater Sauto in Matanzas, and La Caridad in Santa Clara a trilogy of nineteenth-century theaters built in Cuba. Its stage has hosted Caruso, Bernhardt and more.
  • Lunch (included meal)
  • Time to wander and perhaps visit a couple of galleries
  • On to Trinidad de Cuba
  • Your place in Trinidad: Casa Colonial 1830 two blocks off of Plaza Mayor
  • Once settled into your casa particular, it is your evening to wander this town that sugar founded and then left – a town frozen in time. Great food and galleries.
  • Dinner ( included meal)

Monday – Trinidad

  • Time to visit Trinidad accompanied by your guide.
  • Lunch ( included meal)
  • Perhaps a visit to the Valle de Los Ingenios (Sugar Mills) – in the 18th and 19th  centuries this was the most productive sugar cane growing area in all of Cuba. It is a beautiful landscape.
  • Dinner and evening at leisure. Perhaps a visit to the town’s very good Casa de la Musica.

Tuesday - Trinidad – Havana

  • On to Havana.
  • Visit to Hemingway’s home in Cuba – La Finca Vigia – he said of Cuba that “it was the best in the world to work”. Many of his greatest works were written here including “The Old Man and The Sea”.
  • On to Cojimar the locale of this great work. Time to wander around this fishing village less than 20 minutes from Habana Vieja.
  • Lunch ( included meal)
  • Check in to your hotel – Hotel Capri – Superior Double Room with breakfast included
  • Remainder of the day and dinner at your leisure. Your guide is there to assist you 24 hours a day.

Wednesday - Havana

  • Guided tour of Old Havana. So important to the Spanish Empire that Spain traded all of Florida and parts of Louisiana to the British for its return after its capture in the mid – 1700’s.
  • Lunch in old Havana. (included meal)
  • Continued touring of Havana with Cuban architectSr. Pedro Vazquez
  • Visit to a local jewelry maker. She has created a neighborhood project to assist local teenagers in their ambition to be jewelry craftsmen.
  • Dinner and evening at leisure. Again your guide is there to assist you.

Thursday - Havana

  • Curator guided visit of the Bella Artes Museum – Cuba collection. Your guide is a Museum Curator Srta. Nahela
  • Visit to studio/home of Fuster  – considered by some the  Picasso of Cuba – his studio and neighborhood are unique
  • Lunch ( included meal)
  • Museum of the Revolution – to understand modern Cuba is to understand their Revolution.(Perhaps attendance at an afternoon performance at the newly renovated Alicia Alonzo theater (please see non included activities above)
  • Dinner at leisure

Friday – Havana

  • A day at leisure. Havana is a great and safe town in which to wander. Or try some of the optional activities described above.
  • There are numerous small museums available which run the gambit from the Rum Museum to the Antique Car Museum to scale models of Havana.
  • Dinner and evening at leisure. As always, your guide will assist you with selections and reservations and to take you to places of particular interest to you.

Saturday, 3/19 – Havana

  • Guided tour of the Museum of Decorative Art – housed in the former home of one of the richest families of pre Revolutionary Cuba. A glimpse of the splendor of the life of the wealthy.   This museum opened in 1964 and is housed in the house of José Gómez Mena, a mansion designed by the French architects P. Virad and M. Destugué in 1927. Gómez’s sister, María Luisa Gómez Mena, a wealthy patron of Cuban artists, was a vital figure in the Havana of her time.
  • Farmer’s Market – to see where Cuban’s buy and to try to understand the “miracle/ mystery” of the Cuban economy
  • Plaza de la Revolucion – site of the former El Presidente’s seven hour speeches and of the Popes’ visits – Only in Cuba!
  • Lunch ( included meal)
  • Visit to El Morro – the oldest fort in the Americas with spectacular views of Havana across the bay.
  • Craft Market – the “home” of free enterprise in Cuba. Good place for a Che t-shirt but with some effort there are treasures to be found.
  • Return to the hotel
  • Farewell Dinner (included meal)

Sunday - Havana to Miami

  • Transfer to the airport
  • Return Flight to Miami
